Simon has spent 33 enjoyable years in the Insurance business. Five years with Hill House Hammond Insurance Brokers before Joining Thomas, Carroll Group plc in 1982.

Simon's role as Group Director concentrates on close working relationships with a much valued bank of clients. Simon specialises in all aspects of Commercial Insurance with a particular expertise in Contracting Trades. Meet Simon's Team

Dr. Raymond Charles Dickens PHD, BSc - Director

Ray joined Thomas, Carroll in 1993 and manages the insurance accounts for many of Thomas, Carroll premier clients.

Ray has been involved in Insurance broking since 1971 and previous employment includes Provincial, London and National Brokers. Ray is a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Glovers of London, having been granted the Freedom of the City of London in 1994.

Social interests are now mainly sedentary, having previously enjoyed success at Rugby, Cricket, stock-car racing and offshore powerboat racing. Until recently, he also managed a rock band! Meet Ray's Team

Gareth Cotty DipCII - Associate Director

Gareth joined Thomas, Carroll in 2003, with a responsibility for corporate business development.

With over 15 years experience in the industry, Gareth's career started as a commercial underwriter with Sun Alliance before moving to the broking sector with HSBC and more recently Marsh, specialising in servicing major national and international accounts.

Gareth specialises in all aspects of Commercial Insurance with a particular expertise in Property, Leisure and Manufacturing sectors.

In addition to his work for Thomas, Carroll, Gareth also acts as Education Officer for the Chartered Insurance Institute Cardiff.

Phil Makinson ACII Chartered Insurance Broker - Account Director

Phil joined Thomas, Carroll in 2006 and has over 30 years experience in the industry. He began his career as a commercial underwriter with Guardian Royal Exchange and has spent the last 20 years in the South Wales broking market with Aon and Opus.

Simon joined Thomas, Carroll in 1997 and is a Chartered Insurance Broker with particular interest in Property, Construction and Charities/Not for profit organisations.

Before joining Thomas, Carroll, Simon worked in the broker market and also has experience underwriting for the Norwich Union. Simon previously held the position of Regional BIBA Chairman.

Simon lives in Mountain Ash, has two children, and is a keen follower of Welsh sport. He occasionally turns out for the local veterans rugby side, and also enjoys a walk around a golf course. Meet Simon's Team

Claire has 20 years commercial experience and started her career with Independent Insurance in Manchester. Following relocation to Cardiff nearly 15 years ago she has worked for a Commercial Broker gaining experience of all elements of commercial and personal insurances.

Claire joined the Thomas Carroll Group last year and heads up the specialist Care Team. Her understanding of how this sector works and the unique challenges faced by businesses allows her to provide her clients with a completely tailored service. Meet Claire's Team

Liz Williams ACII Chartered Insurance Broker - Account Executive

Liz has spent 34 years in insurance, with the last 29 years in the broking sector with Marsh and Culver Insurance Brokers Ltd where in both cases, she worked as a Director.

Liz has dealt with a large range of corporate clients, including managing the property insurances of a large plc, a number of educational establishments, charities and other commercial and corporate companies. Richard Thomas ACII, Chartered Insurance Broker - Corporate Account Executive

Richard joined Thomas, Carroll in 2009 following a lengthy career with a national broker and brings a wealth of experience in dealing with major corporate accounts in South Wales.

Born in Tenby, Richard started his career with Sun Alliance in 1979 where he worked for 5 years as an underwriter. Since then Richard has worked in the broking sector servicing commercial clients, spending the last 10 years as an Account Executive with a national broker, Willis. He has considerable experience in all aspects of commercial insurance with particular emphasis on construction, manufacturing, biotech and marine related risks.

A keen golfer, Richard is also a passionate rugby follower, having played in his younger days for Penarth, Old Penarthians and Tenby. Richard has also completed the Cardiff Half Marathon and Carten 100 cycle ride to raise money for charity. Meet Richard's Team
