Thomas, Carroll Management Services wins Welsh National Opera Contract

Welsh National Opera has awarded a three-year contract to Caerphilly-based Thomas, Carroll Management Services, for the provision of its Health & Safety consultancy and related support service requirements.

As the Health & Safety consultancy arm of Welsh insurance to financial services group Thomas, Carroll Group plc, TCMS will be implementing a full Health & Safety management programme for WNO, covering all activities, both at its Wales Millennium Centre base, and touring performances throughout the UK and internationally.

Richard Pask, Director of TCMS said: "As one of the leading touring opera companies, WNO presents a wealth of health & safety challenges that only a professional management system can effectively accommodate. As well as its home-based performances and a staff complement of 250 personnel, mounting opera tours is a massive operation in itself, with over 120 performances and playing to 140,000 opera goers a year.

"We are hugely excited that WNO has entrusted us with their H&S needs, and we will be working closely with the opera company's team to further enhance their already well-developed health & safety culture in all aspects of their work."

Jan Michaelis, Technical Director of WNO said: "We take our Health & Safety very seriously at Welsh National Opera. This appointment represents a further high profile success for TCMS, which has a client portfolio that includes The National Library of Wales, The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Wales Millennium Centre, Brecon Beacons National Park Authority and The Celtic Manor Resort.
